Project overview
Shoot for Peace is a six-month youth program that gives young people across Toronto the opportunity to learn photography and videography while collaborating with other like-minded creatives. For my cohort, we were a group of 25 people who took part in workshops, creative projects, and discussions throughout the program. We worked toward an exhibition that will be displayed at the studio for an entire year, along with a video project inspired by the year’s theme.
This year’s theme, “Sweetness of Sonder,” gave me the opportunity to explore sonder from a different perspective. Instead of focusing on strangers, I wanted to explore the world inside my cousin’s mind. I spent a full day with him, learning about his interests, personality, and the things he enjoys. My piece, “A World Within,” captures his energetic personality and imagination through the chaos and movement in his mind, including his favourite video game characters.
We also created a comedy short with my amazing team. I hope you enjoy the video!
